Nutrition For Wrestlers

In the past few weeks we've done a lot of sports performance and nutrition talks for the wrestling team here in the greater Kansas City area. This group of athletes are presented with a unique challenge: to train, gain muscle mass, but still maintain or lose weight. When I was in high school I remember my neighbor running around in sweats and a bag of garbage trying to lose weight. Yeah, it's crazy ... but more importantly it is dangerous. Since then, the wrestling-related deaths, mainly due to dehydration, and thus heart failure, guidelines have been created for high school wrestlers. Wrestler's body fat is measured at the beginning of the season and then again as the season progresses. They can not fall below 5% body fat. This is all very well and good, but the percentage of body fat does not always address the hydration factor is one way that some wrestlers try to reduce weight. I wanted to get some good information that can go along with my wrestlers so by doing some research studies, etc. I had an "interview" with my friend who is a prominent collegiate wrestler. Here are some guidelines we came up with:

Second, wrestlers should not deprive yourself of water. Dehydration has a detrimental effect on training, performance and recovery. In addition, if you take the extremes can affect your life. My friend told me that he was only drinking water and Verve recordings, because he does not want the empty calories of juice or soda, or adverse effects of any "Ades." For more information on hydration to read my articles on hydration in athletic performance section of our site.

Thirdly, a good add-on is paramount. We all, including my friend, supplement to help us not get sick, recover faster and better. For more on this read my article about athletes and athletic performance in the nose section.

Finally, I want everyone to realize that if you're trying to get into a lower weight class, which, most likely due to the training, you'll drop some pounds. If you are already lean and your coach is asking to take down the lower weight classes that could be an issue for you and your family to talk with the coach, is it realistic? From what I heard on all the teams here none of the coaches require their athletes to reduce težinu.Najbolja thing you can do for yourself is to adopt good eating and drinking habits, I have listed here and extended to the additional articles on our site. Those habits will most likely help you train harder, better and recover faster and most likely will help reduce some pounds.
