Protein is the basic component of life, and this is an essential part of any healthy diet. Proteins are found in foods such as beef, chicken, pork, fish, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, tofu, nuts and seeds, and most varieties of beans. Without protein in your diet, your body can not perform even their most basic functions.

Including dairy products in your diet is essential to have healthy teeth and bone structure. Most current dietary recommendations call for the elimination of whole milk and dairy products. Most dairy products including milk, cheese and yogurt can be found in the low-fat versions. There are some diets such as Atkins and South Beach diet, which does not allow full-fat dairy products. You will need to make your own decision about which dairy products you think are the healthiest. However, the key to success in any healthy diet is moderation. Whether you choose full-fat or nonfat dairy products, you should watch the amount you can consume.

Grains such as breads, cereals and pasta provide carbohydrates in your body which is then converted into energy. Most diets are now recommending the use of wholemeal bread and pasta.
